In short

A Black Friday affiliate bonus is extra pay for a short window. Public Shopify programs pay a median 10% base, so 15% for 27 to 30 November is a clear step up. Announce by 10 November, remind on 20 November, and end the bonus on 30 November.

A **Black Friday affiliate bonus** is extra pay on top of your normal commission, for a short window. Offer a small, capped bump for 27 to 30 November, such as 5 points above your base rate. Tell your affiliates by 10 November. Public Shopify programs pay a median base of 10%, so 15% stands out.

An **affiliate** is someone who sends buyers to your shop and earns a cut of each sale. That cut is the **commission**. Your **base rate** is the commission you pay on a normal day. Black Friday 2026 is on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday is on Monday 30 November. You have time, but not much.

## What are the three kinds of Black Friday affiliate bonus?

We group bonuses into three shapes. Tapfiliate lists boosted commission for the whole period or only above a threshold, plus gift cards ([Tapfiliate](https://tapfiliate.com/blog/black-friday-affiliate-guide_bbk/), 7 November 2025). Partnero lists raising rates for the event and goal-based rewards ([Partnero](https://www.partnero.com/articles/how-to-set-your-affiliate-program-up-for-black-friday-and-cyber-monday-success), checked 26 October 2026). Neither page gives a set amount, so the numbers below are our own worked examples.

| Bonus type | How it works | Best for | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Higher rate | Every sale in the window pays more, such as 15% instead of 10% | Brands with a small list and a thin first week | You pay the bump on sales that would have happened anyway |
| Flat bonus per sale | A fixed amount on top, such as $5 per order | Low-priced items, where a few points are tiny | Costs you more on cheap orders than it seems |
| Tiered bonus | A higher rate once an affiliate passes a sales goal, such as 15% after 10 orders | Brands with a few proven affiliates | Small affiliates may feel it is out of reach |

A **tiered bonus** pays more only when an affiliate hits a target. It is usually the lowest-risk of the three, because you pay extra only for extra sales.

If you have a small list, start with the higher rate. It is easy to explain in one line. If a handful of people drive most of your sales, add a tier for them on top.

## How much room do you have above your base rate?

Start with what the market says. We read the public affiliate pages of 168 Shopify brands on 23 October 2026. Of those, 137 named a base rate. The median was 10%. The middle half sat between 8% and 15%. Beauty and skincare was the one category with a higher median, at 15% ([our commission research](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/research/shopify-affiliate-commission-rates-2026)).

So a bump from 10% to 15% moves you to where the top quarter of public programs begin. It reads as a real offer without being a strange one. If you are in beauty and already pay 15%, a flat bonus or a tier may work better than another rate rise. Our guide on [what commission a Shopify program should pay](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/what-commission-should-my-shopify-affiliate-program-pay) shows how to find your ceiling.

Now check the maths on the sale price, not the full price. Let's say a product sells for $80 during the sale. After the cost of the product and its shipping, you keep $36.

| Offer | You pay the affiliate | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| Base rate, 10% | $8.00 | $28.00 |
| Bump to 15% | $12.00 | $24.00 |
| Base 10% plus a $5 flat bonus | $13.00 | $23.00 |

Cut the bump if the last column drops below what you would keep after a paid ad. Our free [affiliate calculator](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/free-tools/affiliate-calculator) turns a sales goal into a commission bill.

## When should you announce it?

Tell affiliates early enough to plan their content. Tapfiliate suggests telling them one to three weeks before Black Friday. Partnero's timeline puts the announcement in early November, with reminders one week out and on the day ([Partnero](https://www.partnero.com/articles/how-to-set-your-affiliate-program-up-for-black-friday-and-cyber-monday-success), checked 26 October 2026). Here is a dated plan to copy for 2026.

| Date | Days to Black Friday | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| By Tue 10 Nov | 17 | The announcement: the bonus, the dates, the cap, the code |
| Fri 20 Nov | 7 | A reminder, plus sale photos and the disclosure line |
| Fri 27 Nov | 0 | A short "it is live" note |
| Mon 30 Nov | Cyber Monday | The bonus ends at 11:59 pm, store time |
| Wed 2 Dec | 5 days after | Thank everyone and share what they earned |

Reading this after 10 November? Send the announcement now and cut the reminder. A short, clear offer sent late beats a perfect one sent on 26 November, when many posts are already written.

## What goes in the announcement?

Keep it short. Say what the bonus is, when it runs, what the cap is, and which code to use. Here is a sample of about 80 words you can adapt.

Hi Sam, a quick Black Friday note. From Friday 27 November to Monday 30 November, your commission goes from 10% to 15% on every sale you send us. The extra pay is capped at $500 per person (that is $10,000 of sales at 5 points). Your code is SAM15 and your link stays the same. Please add this line when you post: "I earn a commission if you buy through my link." I will send sale photos on 20 November. The offer ends at 11:59 pm on Monday 30 November, store time. Thanks for sending us customers.

The cap protects you. To pick one, divide your bonus budget by the number of active affiliates. Without one, a single post that goes far can cost more than you planned. Put the cap in writing.

## Which mistakes should you avoid?

- **Don't change the base rate.** Raising it for good is hard to undo. Make the bonus a clear, dated extra that ends on its own.
- **Don't skip the cap.** Say how much one person can earn from the bonus.
- **Don't leak the code.** A **code leak** is when an affiliate's code lands on a coupon site and anyone can use it. Give each affiliate their own code, set one use per customer, and end it after Cyber Monday. Our guide to [keeping coupon sites out of your program](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/stop-coupon-sites-affiliate-program) covers the settings.
- **Don't announce in the last week.** Tapfiliate suggests telling affiliates one to three weeks ahead so they can plan content, so a bonus that lands on 24 November may reach few of them.
- **Don't forget the disclosure line.** Ask affiliates to say they earn a commission, and put the exact line in your note, such as "I earn a commission if you buy through my link." The FTC expects a clear disclosure close to the recommendation ([FTC](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking), checked 26 October 2026).

## Can you still recruit affiliates in November?

Yes, and the bonus helps you do it. A dated extra may give a new affiliate a reason to act this month. In our scan of 30 Shopify brands on 22 October 2026, the median brand had 92 people shown. For 64% of all shown people, the strongest page was a review, roundup or comparison. Those pages can still be updated before the sale ([our scan data](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/research/who-promotes-shopify-brands-2026)). A hand check of 30 random rows found 9 that were not promoters, so read each page before you write. Our [Black Friday recruiting plan](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/recruit-affiliates-before-black-friday) puts the weeks in order, and our guide on [what to offer affiliates](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/what-to-offer-affiliates) covers the standing offer.
