In short

To find affiliates for a fitness brand, start with the gear roundups that rank your rivals, then add podcast hosts and YouTube reviewers. Our first search on 6 Shopify fitness brands showed 94 people for the typical brand: 65% review or roundup pages, 17% podcasts. An email was found for 27%. Public fitness programs state a median starting commission (the lowest rate a page promises a new affiliate) of 10%. Keep health claims out of your offer.

To find affiliates for a fitness brand, start with the gear and "best of" pages that already rank your rivals. Add podcast hosts and YouTube reviewers who cover training. Offer a commission and a code. Then write down which health claims an affiliate may and may not make, because in the US you can be held responsible for what they say.

This is fitness influencer marketing, run on commission. An **influencer** is anyone with an audience who recommends products. When you pay one a **commission**, a cut of each sale, they are an **affiliate**. This guide says "affiliate" for all of them, from gear bloggers to podcast hosts.

It covers who promotes fitness and sports brands, where to look, what to offer and what to keep out of the offer. The counts come from our own scan, and the full tables are on our [fitness research page](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/research/who-promotes-fitness-brands-2026).

## Fitness influencer marketing: who promotes fitness brands

On 22 October 2026 we ran our software's first search on 6 public Shopify fitness and sports brands. Three were UK shops and three were US. We typed in two rivals and three topics for each by hand, such as home gym equipment, lifting straps and activewear. Then we ran the normal search. It reads web pages, podcasts, TikTok and Instagram.

It showed a median of 94 people per brand, with a range of 60 to 106. A **median** is the middle value when you line the six up from smallest to largest. With six brands, it is the average of the middle two. Here is who they were.

| Type of page | Median per brand | Range | Share of people shown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Review or roundup page | 57.5 | 24 to 82 | 65% |
| Blog-style page | 12.5 | 6 to 36 | 17% |
| Podcast | 12.5 | 5 to 38 | 17% |
| TikTok, Instagram or newsletter | 0.5 | 0 to 3 | 1% |
| All people shown | 94 | 60 to 106 | 100% |

A **roundup** is a page that ranks several products, such as "best adjustable dumbbells". An email was found for a median of 24.5 people per brand (range 8 to 35), which is 27% of all shown.

A note on the method. "Email found" means an address was on record for that person. We did not check it. Each median is the middle of its own six numbers, so the medians do not add up. The shares count all six brands' people together and add to about 100% after rounding.

Bar chart showing that review or roundup pages were 65% of the people shown for six fitness brands.

Podcasts were as common as blogs, and one UK brand showed 38 podcasts. Email was found for 27% of people shown, the lowest share of the five shop sectors we scanned. Six hand-picked shops, each searched once, is a small sample. Read the medians as rough ([the method and limits](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/research/shopify-affiliate-scan-2026)).

Some of the people shown are not promoters. An AI model read the page title and address of 30 random rows from all five sectors. It judged 9 not to be promoters (30%, which could be anywhere from 17% to 48%).

## Where to look first

Start with the biggest pool, then move down. Steps 1 to 3 follow the counts. Step 4 is our advice, not from the scan.

1. **List the roundups that name your rivals.** For fitness shops, most of these are gear lists. Search your top product plus "best", such as "best adjustable dumbbells". Also search "[rival] review" and "[rival] alternatives". Write down who made each page.
2. **Add podcast hosts and blogs.** Podcasts and blog-style pages were each 17% of people shown. Search your sport or goal plus "podcast", then plus "blog". Read the last few episode titles to see whether they cover products like yours. Hosts can take a code and a commission. A code is a discount code that is theirs alone, so you can count their sales. Our guide to [finding podcast and review site affiliates](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/find-podcast-and-review-site-affiliates) shows how to check a show is active.
3. **Add YouTube reviewers.** YouTube is where our larger follow-up found most people. On 24 October 2026 we searched 3 of the 30 shops on a paid plan with every source on. They showed a median of 693 people each, and 71% came from YouTube ([the follow-up](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/research/who-promotes-shopify-brands-2026)). Search "[rival] review" and "[product] vs [product]". Gear gets tested on camera. Our guide to [finding YouTube affiliates](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/find-youtube-affiliates) walks through it.
4. **Add coaches and gym owners.** A coach with a client list may already recommend gear. Search your sport plus "coach" on Instagram and Google.
5. **Treat social as a small extra.** TikTok, Instagram and newsletters were 1% of people shown for fitness in the first search. Add a few creators, but don't build the plan on them.

Our wider guide to [finding affiliates for a Shopify store](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/find-affiliates-for-shopify-store) has the same method for any product. The supplement version, with a bigger podcast lead, is in [podcasts that promote supplement brands](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/podcasts-promote-supplement-brands).

## What to offer

Offer a commission, a code or link that tracks sales, and a free product for reviewers. A reviewer can't test a lifting strap they've never held.

On rates, we read 168 public Shopify affiliate pages on 23 October 2026. The 17 fitness and sports programs state a median base commission of 10%, and the middle half state 5% to 10%. Beauty and skincare is higher, with a median of 15%. The base rate is the lowest rate a page promises a new affiliate ([the commission data](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/research/shopify-affiliate-commission-rates-2026)).

Real offers fit this. FitTransformer, a fitness apparel shop, states "up to 5-10% commission" with a $50 minimum payout, paid monthly ([its affiliate page](https://fittransformer.com/pages/affiliate), checked 27 October 2026). OMORPHO, a sportswear brand, reviews each application for brand fit before it approves it ([its program post](https://eu.omorpho.com/en-uk/blog/article/join-the-omorpho-crew-with-the-affiliates-program), September 2024, checked 27 October 2026). That screening step is worth copying. Not every applicant helps you.

Work back from your own margin before you copy a rate. Our guide on [what commission a Shopify affiliate program should pay](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/what-commission-should-my-shopify-affiliate-program-pay) shows the sum.

## Keep health claims out of your offer

Write a short "do not say" list into your offer. In the US, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says an advertiser can be responsible for a misleading health claim made by an influencer who is paid to promote its product. It also says "results not typical" does not fix a misleading result. It wants "competent and reliable scientific evidence" behind health claims, and says anecdotes and surveys are not enough ([FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/health-products-compliance-guidance), checked 27 October 2026).

In the UK, the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) writes the advertising code. It treats claims about weight loss, fat burning, muscle gain and endurance as health claims. It says clothing should not claim to prevent injury or imply weight loss. It also says an ad must be clearly identifiable as one ([CAP, food, sports supplements and associated products](https://asa.org.uk/advice-online/food-sports-supplements-and-associated-products.html), page dated 16 September 2025). Rules differ by country. This is not legal advice.

So tell affiliates what they can say. They can say they used it, how it felt and what it costs. They can't promise weight loss, muscle gain or a cure. Add a line that you may ask them to take a post down. Then check their posts in the first month.

Add the money disclosure too. The FTC says the bare words "affiliate link" may not be understood, and "paid link" right next to the link should be adequate ([FTC Endorsement Guides Q&A](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking), checked 27 October 2026). Our [disclosure examples](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/affiliate-disclosure-examples-for-brands) give you ten to hand over.

## Reach them with a short, specific message

Check the contact or about page first. Some podcasts list a booking address for guests and brands. In our scan, about 1 in 4 people shown had an email found, the lowest share of the five shop sectors. Plan a contact form or a direct message for the rest.

Keep the first message short and specific. Name one thing they made, say what you sell, state the offer in numbers and ask one small question. This example uses a made-up brand.

Hi Jo, your episode on training through a shoulder injury was the clearest I've heard. I'm Sam at Ironline, and we make adjustable dumbbells. We pay 10% on every sale your listeners send, with 45 days after the click to credit a sale. I can send you a pair to try first, no strings. Would you like the details?

Copy the shape, not the words. The full templates are in our [influencer outreach email template](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/influencer-outreach-email-template) guide.

## Four traps to avoid

**Coupon and deal pages.** Some gear roundups list discount codes. They can take credit for sales you'd have made anyway. See [how to stop coupon sites joining your affiliate program](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/stop-coupon-sites-affiliate-program).

**Pages that are not promoters.** In our AI check of 30 random rows, about 3 in 10 were not promoters. The range could be 17% to 48%. Open each page before you write.

**Unchecked claims.** A coach who says your supplement burns fat puts you at risk, not just them. Ask for the post before it goes live, at least for the first few.

**Judging podcasts on downloads alone.** Give each host a code, and count sales through it.

## Run this on your own brand

Type in your shop's website. RecruitAffiliates.ai suggests your rivals. Then it finds the websites, blogs, review sites, podcasts and creators already promoting them, ranked so the best fits sit at the top. It looks up their email and shows whether each address was checked ([what each result means](https://docs.recruitaffiliates.ai/credits#what-each-result-means)). The scan above ran no email checks, so none of the 27% was checked. The 7-day free trial includes 20 email lookups and needs no card. See the [Shopify page](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/for/shopify) for how it works on a store.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I find affiliates for a fitness brand?

Search for the gear and "best of" pages that rank your rivals and note who wrote them. Add podcast hosts, YouTube reviewers and coaches. Then write to each person with your offer and a free product.

### What commission do fitness brands pay?

Public fitness programs state a median base commission of 10%, from 17 programs we read on 23 October 2026. The middle half state 5% to 10%. Work back from your own margin before you set a rate.

### Are podcasts worth it for a fitness brand?

Yes, as a test after gear roundups. Podcasts were 17% of people shown, level with blogs, and one brand showed 38. Hosts can take a code, so you can count sales per show and keep only the ones that sell.

### Who is responsible if an affiliate makes a health claim?

You can be. The FTC says an advertiser can be responsible for a paid influencer's misleading health claim. Write a "do not say" list into your offer and check early posts.
