# Influencer gifting note: 10 examples to copy

In short

An influencer gifting note is the short card or message that goes with a free product. Use three lines: their name and a real detail, why you picked them, and no strings. Ten copy-paste examples follow. An AI model read 30 random rows. It judged about 30% were not promoters. Nobody checked by hand. So gift only to people whose page you opened.

An **influencer gifting note** is the short card or message that comes with a free product. Write three lines: their name and a real detail from their work, why you picked them, and that there are no strings. Keep it under about 40 words, which is our own rule of thumb. Then add one line asking them to say it is a gift if they post.

An **influencer** here means anyone with an audience who might share your product: a creator, a blogger or a podcast host. **Gifting** means sending a free product with no payment and no promise of a post. Below are ten notes you can copy.

## What is the three-line formula?

We think short notes work best, because a creator will skim them. Joinstatus, a creator-marketing vendor, favours brevity, and that is one vendor's view. Its own guide says "sometimes less is more." It recommends addressing the creator by name and mentioning their content ([Joinstatus](https://brands.joinstatus.com/pr-package-note-ideas), last updated 21 November 2024, checked 26 October 2026). Our formula follows that.

1. **Name and a real detail.** "Hi Maya, your post on sensitive-skin routines helped me."
2. **Why them.** "Our serum is made for the same problem."
3. **No strings.** "This is a gift. Post it, or don't."

A real detail is the hard part. It must come from something the person made, so open their page first. A gift to someone whose page you never read is a gift wasted.

## What are 10 notes you can copy?

Swap the words in brackets. Each note is a short message you could also use as the text on a card.

| # | Who it is for | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Skincare blogger | "Hi [Name], your guide to [topic] helped me. We make a serum for the same skin type. This is a gift, no strings. I hope it helps." |
| 2 | Food or drink creator | "Hi [Name], your [recipe or review] made me hungry. Here is our [product] to try in your next one. No need to post." |
| 3 | Home and garden creator | "Hi [Name], the way you styled [room or project] is what we had in mind when we made this. A gift for you, nothing expected." |
| 4 | Fitness creator | "Hi [Name], your [routine or video] is why I picked you. Here is our [product]. Use it or give it away. No strings." |
| 5 | Nano creator (a few thousand followers) | "Hi [Name], I follow your [topic] posts, especially [post]. Here is our [product], a thank-you for the good ideas." |
| 6 | Writer of a roundup page | "Hi [Name], I read your 'best [category]' list. We are not on it, and I would not ask you to add us. I would just like you to try ours." |
| 7 | Podcast host | "Hi [Name], I liked your episode on [topic]. Here is our [product] for you or a guest. No ask." |
| 8 | A loyal customer | "Hi [Name], thank you for buying [number] times. Here is a gift from us. No need to reply." |
| 9 | A follow-up after they replied | "Hi [Name], thanks for saying yes. Here is the [product] I mentioned. Tell me what you think, good or bad." |
| 10 | A gift with a soft next step | "Hi [Name], a gift for you. If you ever want to earn from our products, there is a short form [link]. Only if it suits you." |

The tenth note adds a next step. We cover it below.

## Leave these out

- **Pressure.** "We would love a post this week" turns a gift into a job.
- **Rules.** A list of must-use hashtags or posting dates belongs in a brief you send after they say yes, not in the box.
- **Discount demands.** Do not ask for a code or a fee in the same message.
- **Flattery you cannot back up.** "Huge fan of your work" with no detail reads as a template.
- **Long paragraphs about your brand.** One sentence is enough.

## Should you add a disclosure line?

Yes, but gently. For free products, the US Federal Trade Commission says to tell the person to "clearly and conspicuously disclose the gift." Then monitor the posts ([FTC](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/ftcs-endorsement-guides-what-people-are-asking), checked 26 October 2026). Put it on a second line or a slip, not in the greeting. Here is a line to copy: "If you post, please say it was a gift from [Brand]." That is the US guidance. If you ship elsewhere, check the local rules.

Our guide to [stopping coupon sites joining your program](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/stop-coupon-sites-affiliate-program) has a sample terms clause you can put your disclosure rule beside.

## How do you add a next step?

A gift is a first touch. If the creator likes the product, give them an easy way to go further. Say it once, lightly, as in note 10. A **commission** is a cut of each sale they send you. Offering one later, in a separate email, keeps the gift clean.

Our post on [affiliate recruitment emails](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/affiliate-recruitment-email) shows how to word that second message. The plan for the [first 10 affiliates in 14 days](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/blog/first-10-affiliates-in-14-days) shows when to send it.

## Who should you gift to?

Only people whose pages you have opened. An AI model read the titles and addresses, not the pages, of 30 random rows. They came from our scan of 30 Shopify brands (22 October 2026). It found 9 that were not promoters, about 30% (a range of about 17% to 48% at that sample size). Nobody checked the labels by hand, and the rows came from a scan of promoters, not a gifting list. So treat it as a rough warning. A free product sent to the wrong site costs you the product and the postage.

Read each page, find one real detail, and write the note after that. If you do not have a list, our [scan](https://recruitaffiliates.ai/research/who-promotes-shopify-brands-2026) shows who covers brands like yours.
