Social Snowball alternatives: tracking and finding affiliates (2026)
Four apps can run your programme instead: UpPromote and GoAffPro, plus Refersion and Shopify Collabs. Modash and RecruitAffiliates.ai find people to join it. Pick by the job that hurts. Do you need to track and pay, or to fill the programme?
Social Snowball is an affiliate app on the Shopify App Store. An affiliate is anyone who sends you buyers for a cut of each sale, and that cut is the commission. A creator is someone with an audience on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube.
Why do brands look for a Social Snowball alternative?
Two of its 211 App Store reviewers gave reasons. These are their views, not a verdict. The first is cost against results. One brand wrote "the program cost us more than it brought in" (Shopify App Store review, 7 September 2026). The second is finding good people. Another wrote "We do have some trouble finding high quality affiliates" (30 September 2026).
Plenty of reviewers praise it too. The listing is rated 4.6 from 211 reviews. Several single out its support team (Shopify App Store, checked 23 October 2026). Our own view is that for some brands the gap is people, not the tracker.

What does Social Snowball do that the others don't?
Its customer flow is the headline. Once the feature is on, its help center says it creates "an affiliate account (and a custom tracking link or discount code)" for every new customer (Social Snowball help center, checked 23 October 2026). UpPromote lists customer referral on Growth and above (UpPromote docs). We didn't look for it in the GoAffPro docs, so check each one.
Its Creator Search and Outreach is on the Blizzard plan, which "starts at $899/m" (Shopify App Store). The help center describes "2M+ META-verified creators", and your brand must be onboarded to Meta's Creator Marketplace first. Outreach emails go out from an email address you connect (Social Snowball help center, 3 February 2026). That is a search of Meta creators, so it fits Instagram-led brands best. Our scan found Instagram was the best evidence page for 17 of the 2,924 people our scanner returned. That reflects our scanner's sources, not every promoter.
How much does Social Snowball cost against the others?
Fees on sales are percentages, so the total depends on how much your affiliates sell. We priced two months. Snow Day is Social Snowball's $249 plan. For UpPromote we took the cheaper of Growth and Professional, its two paid plans with a fee on referral sales.

The sums are the listed plan price plus the listed fee. Professional is $89.99 plus 1.5%. Growth would cost about $430 at $20,000, so Professional is cheaper there. 3% for Snow Day, 2% for Growth, 3% for Refersion Launch (Shopify App Store, UpPromote pricing, Refersion pricing, all checked 23 October 2026). GoAffPro's pricing page lists no fee on sales (GoAffPro pricing). Shopify Collabs charges 2.9% on automatic payouts instead, so it isn't comparable here. Fee bases differ: affiliate revenue, referral sales, affiliate sales. Read each pricing page. Blizzard "starts at $899/m" with a custom plan after install (Shopify App Store). Features may push you to a paid plan sooner, so match plans to what you need.
What did our scans find?
Most of the people our scanner returned were sites with reviews, not creators. Social Snowball's help center describes its search as Meta creators, so check what each tool covers. We ran our scanner on public Shopify brands to count the sites, shows and creators that cover brands like these.

- Blog-style pages were 573 (20%). Podcasts were 399 (14%).
- TikTok gave 49 people, Instagram 17 and newsletters 9, across all 30 brands.
- Median 92 people shown per brand, from 35 to 188.
A first search for a brand, 22 Oct 2026, 30 public Shopify brands in all. It stopped at finding addresses and ran no email checks, which the product runs when a campaign starts (what each result means). In a 30-row check, 9 were not promoters (likely 17% to 48%). Full method and limits.

Each median is the middle value of six brands, rounded to a whole number. The scan covered 30 public Shopify brands on 22 October 2026. We picked the brands by hand and did not record which use Social Snowball. Our scan did not test Social Snowball's creator search, so it can't show what that search misses.
How do you choose?
- Your buyers are your best promoters. Social Snowball is built for that. Keep it. If nobody beyond your buyers joins, add a finding tool and send people your sign-up link. Our guide on finding affiliates beyond your customers shows how.
- You mostly pay the fee and want it lower. Compare a fee on sales (Social Snowball, UpPromote, Refersion) with a flat plan, as in the table above.
- You want a marketplace listing. UpPromote and GoAffPro list one. So does Refersion.

What is the best free alternative to Social Snowball?

Is there a Social Snowball alternative that finds affiliates for me?
Modash's creator search finds people. Its pricing page lists affiliate management only on the $499 plan (Modash pricing). RecruitAffiliates.ai finds people but doesn't track or pay. UpPromote sells Creator Discovery as an add-on, from $39 a month (UpPromote docs).
Can you use two affiliate apps at once?
We'd avoid it, since two trackers can both claim the same sale. We haven't tested that. Use one app to track and pay, and a separate way to find people.
Is RecruitAffiliates.ai a Shopify app?
No. It is a web app that works alongside your affiliate app. It has no Social Snowball integration.
